ATM - Air Traffic Management
A system consisting of a ground part and an air part, both of which are needed to ensure the safe and efficient movement of aircraft during all phases of operation.
The airborne part of ATM consists of the functional capability which interacts with the ground part to attain the general objectives of ATM.
The ground part of ATM comprises the functions of
- Air Traffic Services (ATS),
- Airspace Management (ASM), and
- Air Traffic Flow Management (ATFM).
Air traffic services are the primary components of ATM.
